In Honor of my good actor friend Elisha’s big Bday- I post this song from my old band…when I actually played keyboard live on stage.
I even made a movie about it- we all start somewhere. Lucky for me I started in Hell

GOLDEN BOY PRESS Interview #116
We talked to singer/artist Actually Huizenga, from the LA band ACTUALLY. Her style and thoughts are as striking as the music she creates. Every one of her music videos are a story of complexity and modern issues that need to be seen. In this interview, she goes on to talk about her newest album that will be released around October, called “PREDATOR ROMANTIC”.
Could you introduce yourself?
Hi, I am Actually Huizenga of Los Angeles, California.
I’m a singer-writer-editor-producer-director blend sort of thing.
Is there a story behind the name?
Someone asked me, “are you actually Ashley?” once a long time ago…and so I said, I’m just Actually.
So I’m actually Actually now.
How did you realize you wanted to pursue music as a career?
I saw Labyrinth on TV once very late at night while my parents were out at a gala event…I was frightened, as I felt a sensation within my loins- I realized the connection between sex, beauty and art through the image of the Goblin King… and from that introduction, I began researching David Bowie…
Through this life-enhancing research, I decided that I didn’t want to be real anymore either.
I hope that David Bowie will one day know that he was my life-coach. Maybe then, I can start talking about something else in my interviews. Hahhaha
What do you want to show your listeners through your music?
I want the listeners (and the seers) to calm down and have fun…but calm down in a hyper-sexual way, you know? Like good drugs without all those bad side effects? I want to make a fantasy for people to escape into with me.
How have you grown since you started making music?
Since I started making music, I grew approximately 2 feet.
What kind of music did you listen to growing up?
First album I ever “received” was the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack in 3rd grade. Of course David Bowie came soon after.
During that time, I read more than I listened to music, honestly. Before DB, Pulp, Suede, etc. I mostly listened to mood-enhancing compilations from the Price Costco… and like Frank Sinatra, Christmas music, Disney movie soundtracks…
I was underdeveloped physically and socially until college. I was very sad to leave school, so I went to college as soon as I could.
In college I was horrified to find that my breasts grew and I was straight after all.
How do you feel about the music scene in LA today?
Ummm, I’m pretty tired from partying this weekend…
What’s your mission statement, your beliefs? How do you make that come across in your music?
I have to believe in myself as much as humanly possible… but sometimes it’s only possible on the animal level (the human part is so annoying sometimes).
MUSIC- wise…I just want goth-dreamy-metal teenagers to smile and touch themselves alone in their rooms to my music. And I don’t mean masturbate necessarily…
I want to be a fantasy warrior in a movie that resonates with a generation (or something epic like that).
What goals do you have for your music this year?
I am working on a new album called “PREDATOR ROMANTIC” with my band mate Chaz Windus. We are hoping to release it (with a new music video -that I just shot-) around Halloween time. For me, all time lies between Halloween and Christmas.
What makes you happy?
Halloween and Christmas
& filming and performing….
Any closing comments?
Lose your phone for at least two hours a day…if “humanly” possible.
It’s okay to get sick of humans once in a while. Just don’t get too sick of yourself.
